Overview and Focus
Responsibilities
  • Design and produce civil construction plans under the direction of Project Team Leaders.
  • Prepare engineering reports and specifications.
  • Research, manage and execute project permitting requirements.

  • Represent the client and company at project meetings when necessary.

Overview and Focus
Responsibilities
  • Direct, review, and approve all project designs, plans, reports, specifications, and revisions.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate all project processes and schedules to meet client objectives and deliverables while hitting financial targets.
  • Lead, motivate, and communicate with the project team to ensure that all team members are staying on task and working toward the same objectives; focusing their efforts on what is most important at any given time in the project lifecycle.
  • Perform QA/QC/VE reviews to ensure that all plans and reports meet project objectives and that all plans are clear, detailed, accurate, and efficiently designed.
  • Critically assess jurisdictional review comments, requirements, and plan changes for items that could impact a project’s quality, budget, or schedule and respond in accordance with best practices and with the client’s best interest in mind.
  • Maintain and adhere to Burkhardt’s design and production standards and processes.
  • Represent the client and company at project meetings, presentations/interviews, and public hearings.
  • Select sub-consultants for projects as necessary.
  • Train, mentor, and instruct team members to ensure their success and advancement.
  • Prepare scope of work, budgets, and proposals for new projects.
  • Prepare project invoices and assist with collections when necessary.
  • Participate in marketing and business development efforts by assisting with strategy and content creation, seeking out new opportunities and actively marketing services to existing clients to ensure repeat business.
  • Track project scope, deliverables, and contractual obligations and account for any changes to prevent erosion of project budgets.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly project update letters to clients.

  • Setup and operate all survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS equipment, 3D laser scanners, data collectors, rods, and levels.
  • Keep survey vehicles, storage areas, and supplies clean, organized, and well stocked.
  • Prepare equipment and load/stock survey vehicle for the day.
  • Follow all required safety standards and guidelines.
  • Drive/operate survey vehicle as needed.
  • Participate in project planning and project debriefs.
  • Locate and collect survey field data including property monuments, structures, topographical information, utilities, and other existing improvements.
  • Provide construction layout of various site improvements.
  • Assist Survey Crew Chief with sketches and site photos.

  • Review survey data collected by the survey crew for accuracy and completeness.
  • Research project survey requirements including zoning and subdivision regulations.
  • Create and prepare point files and drawings for construction staking. Review all construction drawings and CAD files for accuracy and completeness to ensure that field personnel have what they need to perform construction layout.
  • Research and coordinate survey review and approval processes with City/County officials and staff; make submittals and appropriately address review comments.
  • Ensure that BURKHARDT’s survey and drawing standards and processes are implemented and maintained.
  • Assist with the coordination and preparation of proposals.
